Is Long Distance Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy For You?

Therapy means that you, the chronic pain sufferer, can be effectively treated by Professor/Dr. Rothbart without having to leave your home.

Long Distance  Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy – what are your steps to recovery?

Step One

First, I need to determine whether you can be treated long distance. So you will talk with me, Professor/Dr. Rothbart, via an Initial Phone Consultation.

At this time, I will answer your initial questions about your chronic pain problem(s) and whether I feel that you might have one of the two inherited, abnormal foot structures that I discovered – Rothbarts Foot and PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity.  I only treat people who have one of these two common foot structures.

Step Two

Now I need to determine if you do, if fact, have either of these foot structures.  And so, you will take specific photos of your body and email them to me.  I then run my proprietary computer postural analyses on your photos.

These analyses give me a wealth of information, including: your specific foot structure, its’ severity, and any additional structural problems (cranial, visual, TMJ problems, etc) contributing to your chronic pain.

The analyses also tell me the type and strength of proprioceptive insole I will need to make for you in order to start the process of normalizing the distorted signals generated by your abnormal foot structure and initiate your body’s healing.

It’s only after having run these analyses that I know with certainty that I can help you and that you are a candidate for my long distance therapy.
We will then have a second telephone appointment, at which time I will fully explain my findings with you and also, how long it will take to eliminate your chronic pain and regain your health.

Step Three

If you are a candidate, long distance therapy will then begin.

Based on the results of my computer analyses of your posture, I custom design and fabricate prescriptive proprioceptive insoles – Rothbart Proprioceptive Insoles – which are made specifically for your body’s needs.

You will send me your shoes (simple, flat-bottom, non-orthopedic) which I will mail back to you, fitted with your prescriptive insoles. We then have a phone appointment to discuss how you will get started using your insoles.

It seems miraculous to many of my patients, as they find that from the first minute they are using their proprioceptive insoles, they feel better – lighter on their feet, easier to walk, and that their posture is somehow different.

This is because your healing begins once you start to stand on and walk in your prescriptive proprioceptive insoles.  With each step, corrected signals are sent from your feet to your brain (cerebellum).  Acting on these signals, your brain corrects your posture, which eliminates the stress on your joints and muscles.  They then begin to heal.

Step Four

As the weeks go by and your body heals, it will go through changes. These changes are carefully monitored throughout your entire therapy.  A close and continual connection is maintained by weekly email updates that you will send to me.  I use these updates to determine when your body has issues that need my immediate attention.

For any questions you may have during your therapy (or when I need to speak with you), telephone appointments are promptly scheduled.

Computer analyses are run periodically to determine when the strength of the stimulation in your insoles needs to be adjusted (in order to continue your postural corrections and the healing process.)  Based on these analyses, a new set of Rothbart Proprioceptive Insoles will be designed and dispensed.  Most patients require at least one prescription insole change during their therapy.

In a nutshell, you are under my close eye during your entire therapy because everyone (and everyone’s body) is different and has different needs. For example, some patients require changes in the signal of their insoles sooner than others. Some patients require other adjunct therapies (such as Pilates or cranial sacral) to help them adjust to the proprioceptive signal under their feet. Some patients need to change their shoes more often because shoes wear differently for different people and break down differently due to many factors.

Step Five

When the results of the computer analyses tell me that your posture is now both anatomically correct and stable (thus allowing your body to continue to heal itself) and when you are satisfied with the results you have obtained, your therapy is then complete.

Long Distance Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy usually takes six to twelve months to complete and it is all done without you having to leave your home.
